So it wasn’t ‘fake’ as a lot of people were claiming.
Well…silly really isn’t it.
Who was offended tho?
That’s Joe Duffy’s content for the day sorted so. It was an uncalled for thing to do in the first place but to then go ahead and livestream is just asking for trouble
What a group of idiots.
As cringe as the video was, as usual it pales in comparison to the cheerleaders who show up in the comments to heap praise on the cause
Wow, what a way to put a dampener on a great achievement. What on earth were they thinking? Playing right into the hands of pontificating Unionists with this carry on. Seriously disappointing.
If the mens team sang it there would be uproar…..just saying….
They just couldn’t celebrate amongst themselves. Had to take out the phone to live stream it for extra attention. Dumb to sing that song. Beyond stupid to record it live, especially in light of the respect shown for the victims of Creelough. This is just pathetic all round. Why does soccer shittery have to permeate into the women’s game too?
This is so catchy I bet that even the people outraged by this are walking around with “ooh ah up the..” stuck in their head on loop all day.
In there defense it is a celtic song they were singing: Celtic Symphony – The Wolfe Tones.
keep the Fintan O’Tooles hanging around here happy
I’ll bet we’re not the first country where the football team has done something similar. It was a bit of harmless fun, it’s not as if they’re the sporting wing of the ‘RA.
It really is…you go back to your “woke” world
Such a stupid thing. Takes the shine off a fantastic achievement and just shows there is still splits while we have talks of unification. Proves that the Republic are equally at fault in causing divides with the North, Protestants and catholics etc.
Good move by the FAI.
What a fucking joke that their achievements have been overshadowed by this absolute non-story. Irish media and our desperate need to be loved by foreigners are a cancer on our society.
I’ll remind people that If it wasn’t for the IRA this team wouldn’t even exist.

Sometimes I wonder why we don’t have all ireland soccer teams, then this happens.
“We didn’t even know we had a woman’s soccer team” the FAI said in a statement.
If a national team wearing a poppy is acceptable then this chant should be too 🙂
Are you all happy now? You’ve managed to make a silly song the story instead of our women’s team qualifying for their first ever major tournament. You just couldn’t let the women have this, could you?
They’re young. They’ve made a mistake. They’ve apologised.Time to move on. If the Good Friday Agreement was possible, sworn enemies shaking hands, we can forgive a bunch of very excited young athletes singing a song!
We need to protect them now from the tabloids who want to cancel them. We need them at their physical and mental best….so we might for once in our lives win a World Cup 🇮🇪😉
Whilst it obviously wasn’t right I think the people acting deeply shocked by this are a bit naive. It’s an Irish soccer team who were celebrating qualifying for the world cup, hardly that surprising.
How do we know they meant the modern RA, and not the freedom fighters? Should they apologize for the Republic of Ireland existing?
So much fucking handwringing over this, by people who probably use the term “snowflake” as a pejorative and accuse others of being easily offended
