Who is the woman in this painting? I saw this in a librarian’s office when I was in a tiny village near Bergen a few years ago.

  1. She is a monster from 1800-century. Famous for eating children and raping there parents. We call here Anja the eating rapist

  2. Painting from 1808, it seems, with a name in the lower left: Karen J. something. The photo was taken with high ISO and then had rough noise removal, so the writing is kind of indistinct. Karen J. Perikelet?

  3. I’m going to make an educated guess here and say it might be Marie Sophie Frederikke af Hessen-Kassel who was Queen of Denmark from 1808-839 and Queen of Norway from 1808 to 1814, which would coincide with the date of the painting. She looks similar as well so… maybe??

  4. Not a joke setup. What was the name of the village? Just curious, I was in Bergen a few years ago.
