This is what the media and commentators are failing to pick up. Yes labour are 20/30 points in the lead because Tory voters are going from Tory -> don’t know/won’t vote. Not Tory -> labour. If things don’t improve, I wouldn’t bet against another farage led party appearing and hoovering up this vote. (Especially as there is talk of relaxing immigration rules)

I just don’t get it. I’m from Worcester, grew up here, our local MP has had his seat safe since 2010 and frankly has barely given Worcester a slither of his attention, as far as I’m aware he’s done nothing whatsoever to help Worcester thrive or prosper, it’s down to our city council and locals charities/community groups fighting to improve the city. His colloquial nickname is Robin Wanker for a reason and yet he still wins his seat. Every. Fucking. Time.
The majority is getting smaller, but because of misinformed voters or just those who decide to bury their head in the the sand like those in the article he persists. Disgraceful representative for such a historically important and beautiful city.
In Lidl I overheard an older gentleman and his daughter having a political conversation, they can barely afford to shop in Lidl and yet the older guy is dead set on voting Tory because of Tony Blair, a man who hasn’t been PM for 15 years!
It’s pretty sad that you can be so pro one political party you can’t comprehend voting for a different colour.

You shouldn’t have a fucking team in politics. If you do that brings into serious doubt your ability to make rational decisions. Every election you should be looking at the manifestos of all of the running parties and evaluating their policies logically and rationally before casting a decision. You can even disregard the conclusion and vote tactically if you want. Just stop blindingly acting on tribalism and start using your bloody brains!
I live in Worcestershire and used to have a business here. I can confirm that there are many who just won’t change their vote from tory. You look at them and can almost see the negative effects of the tory government. They just refuse to vote anyone else.

My midlands town Northampton has been conservative led for years and my town is decimated. The government had to bail the conservative council out because they partied hard and created a lot of debt. I was away from Northampton for fives years and before I would have been unfortunate to see one homeless person. When I got back to the town centre there was an entire camp of homeless people. Fuck the tories. With all my heart I will forever despise them.

The trajectory of British Conservatism is a return to a pre-modern economy comprising millions of poor, under-educated, unhealthy, and short-lived servants and factory workers in bonded servitude, living hand to mouth in crowded multigenerational homes, and a tiny gilded elite who live parasitically on their efforts.

People are stupidly tribal. There are a big chunk of swing voters in the centre but most people will never vote for any other parties. It is part of their identity and they do not have the mental capacity to see beyond it. Even the truth doesn’t matter to these people:

Ironically the most frustrating thing is denial of some interviewees. Especially the one thinking it was a “choice” to switch to Lidl. If you didn’t do it earlier and did it in response to tightening finances and increasing costs, you used to have spare expendable income and now you don’t. It was a choice you had, but now it’s not.
