Shock. This will all be as they somehow how to pass muster with the OBR. Freeze public spending for 5 years
You could see it coming a mile away
Constantly picking on the poor and disabled. I wonder how people will pay to keep their breathing equipment or dialysis machines switched on with cuts to benefits amidst high inflation and energy hikes. This is just so irresponsible and cruel.
More austerity is certainly a “courageous” policy.
I hope Kami-Kwaze and Mad Liz continue on to the next election.
I don’t have the energy to read about their shite anymore. They should just give up power already, nobody but the incredibly brainwashed want them around anymore.
Well at this stage we will have riots at the end of the year and if they do any more cuts to the police, not even them will go to work, to help dizzy lizzy.
Right so the U-Turn on the 45p tax cut was a distraction for him wiping out these services.
Screw this guy – zero legitimacy and in the pocket of HFs. Where is that bus that’s going to run him over once Truss pushes him?
Shocker, tax cuts for the rich folloed by privatisation of public services.
This isn’t a government its a middle class mob.
>Mr Kwarteng refused to apologise outright for the 45p blunder, but said: “There is humility and contrition in that – and I’m happy to own it.”
This type of ‘apology’ is becoming all too common from this lot; they use it as a way to accept the blame, while dodging the consequences.
One thing I’ve noticed; the news is pushing this 45p tax rate thing hard, but we’re hearing nothing about going after the tax-dodging companies that owe billions. I’m not surprised, but I’m fairly sure that closing the tax loopholes and going after the dodgers alone could easily cover these cuts.
Good lord, where on earth from? Hospital beds? I cannot believe this is a developed country carrying on the way they are – it feels seconds away from going full Animal Farm or something
The whole reason people were angry about the 45% rate cut was because people at the lower end weren’t getting help.
Surely he can’t think that by removing that tax cut people suddenly won’t care about the fact people at the lower end are going to be hurt even more than they currently are.
If they weren’t so incompetent and incapable of long, short or mid term planning I’d be convinced this was the plan all along.
Great. Its not as if we’re in the midst of an Cost of living crisis or anything.
Tories are an absolute joke/ completely evil
It’s pretty much scorched Earth policy up until the next election. They and their friends will make loads of money while everyone else suffers.
I can’t say the things I really want to say. But I will say this seems like treachery, and those responsible should be punished accordinly
The old ‘let’s cut public services’ yet again as a way of diverting attention away from the Tory’s unfunded energy subsidies of £150+Billion per year.
It’s important to remember the Tory philosophy and ideology to understand why they’re doing this.
They think that if you’re poor, it’s all down to your own character flaws. You’re poor because you’re a bad person. You’re poor because you are a lazy ne’er-do-well. You’re poor because you’re morally bad.
That means that it is logical and sensical to punish them.
We punish thieves, right? Well, what’s more thieving than someone who relies on tax money from others?! They’re just as bad, and must be punished!
Just once, just for once in my god damn life, I would like to see the alternative. Just once, I’d like to see someone be like:
“OK, we need cash. Instead of cutting services for the 40% poorest, we’re going to increase income from the top 1%, and see what happens.”
I’m pretty sure I know what would happen (nothing bad, everything good), but it’s just so tiring.
And he is saying all this shite whilst wearing his designer clothes, eating food that has been prepared for him, not having a care in the world about his bills because he can claim ridiculous amounts of money back all whilst us lower earners are having mental health crisis’ jus to afford to live each month. It’s truly sickening that this is being allowed to happen. The people who vote these idiots in to power from the general public do they really not see the harm that is being done!? Are they walking around with blinkers on!? Can they not see that this way of living is not just making people suffer but is actually killing them because suicide is unfortunately an extreme outcome of a mental health support system literally going down the pan. I hope to god that the generation of children born amongst this mess rise up and become the future leaders who make a better world.
This is insanity. A party that in 2010 told us austerity was required for the future prosperity of this country. And here we are 12 years later, the countries poorer, the people are poorer and the public services are getting cut again. The tories are dangerous.
Well at least we don’t have Corbyn in charge right lads? /s
I listened to the Today program on R4 rip him a new one at about 8:30 this morning.
Kwarteng doesn’t even seem to have the wit to slime himself out of the interviewers questions. His ineptitude is staggering.
‘You didn’t like these measures, let’s try these ones instead?’
So far it’s a continuation of the Johnson style of government, so there’ll be several U-turns in the future. Unfortunately some of it will make it through before they’re inevitably kicked out.
They’re flinging shit at the wall, only some of it will stick but everyone will be covered with the splatters.
Reminds me of the ‘kill the poor’ sketch by Mitchell & Webb
We need to bring back throwing rotten tomatoes at public figures, nothing more physical than that, but something to get our anger out
What has it cost the Bank of England to buy all those bonds and rescue the country? £65 billion? How much is the energy loan? £100 billion? I make that about £55 billion a week so far that these two have cost the country with my back of a fag packet economics – _dont forget she was voted in by Tory Party members_
I didn’t even knot there was 18 billion worth of public services to be cut!
This cunt should be under investigation for insider trading. Why is he not suspended
Hate this government and the previous ones. I work for the NHS and its getting to the point that I will have to look for a different job. Its bad when I could work for Tesco and get more money than working is local surgery. We had so many staff leave in the past 6 months. Moral is at a all time low and most of us are being screamed at, argued and treated like crap. Tesco staff probably get treated better than we all do.
Never forget the Tory government gave away so much money on a Track and Trace app that WE NEVER SAW and it cost the same amount as two aircraft carriers.
We have the money. They choose to spend it on other things.
