Masks may be mandatory in some settings if Covid spikes

  1. Just bring it in as advice for now, no harm in it for public transport.

Can already see sick cunts getting on the luas sneezing like they’re after a bag the night before

  2. I couldn’t believe the amount of visibly sick *adults* not even attempting to cover their mouths when they cough when I was trying to buy something for dinner. Grown men and women with their whole family out for a trip to the shops, coughing on everyone and anything. Are they in denial or something? I wouldn’t mind it for the shops/public transport at the very least so I don’t have to worry about my parents catching it again.

  3. Should have just kept them for public transport or even some shops. I’ve no problem sticking on own to run into dunnes. My mother had covid this week and I’ve had a mask with me all eeek

  4. It’s kind of amazing how much push back this is going to get considering most people will have known someone that passed away from covid

  5. This would be so incredibly fucking depressing, not because masks are actually much of an inconvenience, but because of the sheer stagnation, backsliding, and hopelessness they represent.

  6. Said it before: As a public service, make it legal to punch people in the face for coughing without covering their mouth.

  7. Will not be happening for me. I will wear one in a hospital but outside of that forget it. Got covid once because I was drinking like a fish over Xmas and my immune system was on the floor. Wasn’t that bad.

He should be promoting healthy living instead of wearing a poxy mask.

  8. Every few months talks like this will pop up. I think we just keep living with covid. It ain’t ever going away.

  9. I’ve definitely noticed a few cases of COVID around recently. Next to no masks on (although my work has told us to continue wearing masks even when the mask mandate was lifted) and I hear all sorts of coughs and sneezes on the bus and so. Fuckit, I still wear the mask and I’ve been feeling awful recently. Still negative on the tests and I think it’s just a headcold but still.

  10. Its strange that the people I see wearing masks now are STILL not covering their noses. You may as well wear nothing.

I wouldn’t mind seeing some recommendation for public transport since you see people hocking up all sorts right now. I can only imagine it getting worse as Winter approaches.

  11. Leaving the legal approach aside for a minute, I would support the cultural adoption of people wearing masks around flu season.

Having live in southeast Asia you get incredibly used to it when everyone else is doing it.

I think it should become part of the standard commuters uniform in November, and for much the same reason that we all culturally accept people wearing raincoats and yellow reflector bands in the winter, it’s good for our health.
