Does anyone has recently ordered from a Chinese website and received extra fees to pay from the carrier? Is there any way to avoid paying these fees while ordering on Chinese websites? Wish, Aliexpress, bangood etc.
I found that it might help:

Pay them up front on Amazon.
What fees do you mean? Import duties?
I heard that in Germany you can register as ‘Selbstverzoller’ so you save the handling fee of the customs. But only starting from next year

Yeah it’s fu*ked. Can’t do much about it. Maybe try and send it to someone you know that lives in france/belgium and let him ship it to you.
Edit: what I don’t get is, how does it work for wish etc, they usually just write some random stuff on the package contents and rarely write down the value of the package. How are they going to know how much they should tax you?
To my understanding Aliexpress collects VAT at the order and preclears, so there’s an assumption of no additional fees. Ordered a few trinkets the other day, will see how it goes.
I still have several small things one the way that I ordered back in April from China. I wonder what happens with packages I already got a refund for since they have not arrived on time. Basically, I did not pay for them.
I went to pay the bill today at the POST office and asked about it.
Basically, the party is over,
since the 1st of July, you absolutely need to make sure VAT is included in the price you pay on the websites outside the EU. Otherwise, you will have to pay TVA + expensive management fees when you receive your package in Lux.
The good news is that Aliexpress, Banggood, wish etc are already aware of this and adapted to this new Law. So they now include the VAT in their price, and even added a small mention “VAT Included” or “TVA incluse” next to most articles.
Make sure you see this mentioned next to the price before your purchase outside the EU.
The bad news is that it’s the same anywhere in Europe (can’t skip if you ship to France, Belgium or Germany).
