Bet my nice pen, that Ross wasn’t wearing any pants.
Would be nice if RTÉ just came out and said “it was a shit boring interview with a weirdo who wrote a poor biography and so we weren’t arsed exposing people to his incoherent rambling”.
Ross has always been weird, but his complete and utter embarrassing failure as a Minister seems to have driven him mad altogether.
Like, just on a basic level, how fucking weird is it to go away and write a biography about a former colleague that you don’t like? If any of us went and did that people would rightly think we were weird – they wouldn’t think the poor person who it was about was “sinister” for not cooperating.
From what I’ve seen though it seems the book says more about Shane Ross than it does about Mary Lou. Would be the same in that case as his last book, “in bed with the blueshirts” which really just highlighted the petty shite that Ross occupied himself with while he was supposed to be a Government Minister.
Keep it up lads! Keep it up!
Woefully transparent attack politics, and for the head of ~~state~~ government to lower the office to commenting on conjecture for the purpose of it. Real vote winning stuff…KEEP…IT…UP!
At this rate I’m half tempted to join FF and FG just to provide ongoing encouragement.
Any idea what Ross has to say about Mary Lou in his book? Has he uncovered some damning scandal from her past?
If he said anything unsubstantiated about her in the interview, you could be sure RTE wouldn’t air it.
On the other hand, it could just be as dull as he fucking is.
Because they ran it past their legal department and found they’d probably be sued again and might lose twice ? To be sued once by someone and potentially lose is embarrassing..to be sued twice (in the same year) and lose looks like a vendetta by the state broadcaster against the leader of the largest party in opposition and quite possibly the next Taoiseach. The state broadcaster would lose any semblance of impartiality not to mention that MLMD would have them by the balls going forward. They’d never be able to run a story about her again.
Martin appears to be lying that SF or as he put it “a political party” had access to the interview according to he response from RTE. And then the gall to say when he was in opposition he was never afforded the same chance.
When the fuck has someone in a rival political party written a ‘biography’ about him? Typical Mehole talking out his hole
RTE likely didn’t see the value in Shane Ross coming on to promote his book given it’s likely a very opinionated view. It’s hard to understand his logic in writing a book about Mary Lou but he’s likely just capitalizing on the recent increase in public support for SF.
I just wonder what kind of person would buy his book when he basically did nothing over his political career so what merit does he have on anything. Michael Martin also doesn’t see the irony in calling for free speech when he’s basically saying that the national broadcaster should listen to him when he query’s RTE on the matter. Will be hilarious if they do release it after MM speaks with RTE because SF will just say this is interference by the government and that Shane Ross Will benefit financially from the airtime.
The government really need to question are their advisors out of touch with reality since every time they pull the some kind of political move it backfires. This all just gives SF more votes which is kind of ironic since they’re basically giving SF free publicity. Would of been better not to bring it up at all and just ignore it since it’s not like the book will sell much anyways.
This is very fucked up for a sitting Taoiseach to pressure the national broadcaster over an editorial decision…
