Ofgem ‘prepared for all scenarios’ after leaked letter warns of gas shortage | ITV News

  1. “Leaked”? Give me a break. It’s not “leaked” at all. The letter is a very publicly available [Ofgem response to a modification proposal](https://www.elexon.co.uk/mod-proposal/p448/) on the Elexon website (scroll to Submission -> P448 Urgency Decision Letter). Admittedly, it’s not a website that gets much traffic from the general public, but it’s well known and used by people in the industry. Someone from The Times just stumbled over it – no leaking necessary.

Besides, National Grid Gas has never made a secret of its [procedures](https://www.nationalgrid.com/gas-transmission/safety-and-emergencies/network-gas-supply-emergencies-ngse) for a Network Gas Supply Emergency or in fact that an NGSEs is a real possibility *every* winter. In fact, we’re doing an industry-wide exercise every year exactly for the purpose of preparedness (in fact, it’s happening tomorrow and Wednesday. Yay.) Yes, this year there will be some additional strains on gas supply, but all in all, we are in a good place in the UK. Wish people wouldn’t overhype the situation. The war in Ukraine doesn’t help, but let’s not get carried away either. Unless it’s an exceptionally cold winter, the gas supply will be sufficient.

  2. Jesus, we have allowed our news media to become our collective shame

They are all just parroting each others untruths and fabrications now
