Very polite of him, I’d describe Truss’s plan as bat shit crazy, flat earth economics.
I mean do you really need to hint that others think it’s shit when it’s been panned by markets everywhere?
When will people wake up and see the tories don’t know what they are doing
When they mean by others, they means most citizens of the U.K.
The worst part about this is the Tories still think there’s a “special relationship” with the US that they can turn into a Brexit success as soon as (they think it’s inevitable) Trump returns to the Presidency.
We know we fucked up when even Biden thinks we fucked up.
He already subtlety criticized her indirectly, denouncing the errant thinking of trickle down economics, but it’s nice to see him finally properly disagree. London and New York are both critical to the Western financial markets, it’s in neither of our interests to be as volatile…
You know it’s bad if weekend at Burnie’s thinks it’s bad.
Ahh look at all that control we took back.
Can’t even deliver a budget without international markets causing the chancellor to be fired 😂
Biden is right. Only the foolish thought this crazy plan would work
People criticising Biden speaking his mind about Trussonomics couldn’t have heard of something called the British Empire.
Interfering in other countries was/is Britain’s specialist subject.
I’m no defender of Liz Truss here, I despise everything she stands for _but_ I do find it intriguing that the leader of our country is not free to make political decisions (even if I think they’re wrong ones) and is instead at the mercy of The City wants her to play it. I guess my fear is that one day a PM will want to pursue an economic plan that I _do_ agree with but is forced to back track because The City doesn’t like it.
The only ones who don’t think it was a mistake are the city boys who made £££ or $$$ off of it!
While thats true, its hilarious how little Biden and perhaps the American political institution respects UK or its importance. Biden wouldnt be saying this about many other allies even if they did the same thing
There’s stating the obvious and then there’s this lmao
It’s not difficult to criticise Truss on account of her being a fucking idiot, shortlisted by fucking idiot Tory MPs (all voted in by fucking idiots) and then selected by fucking idiot Tory party members.
We’ve had a rolling Tory shitshow since 2010 and look where it has got us.
Can save some effort and just label Truss a mistake
actually the whole tory party while we’re at it
I’m surprised the senile old cunt knows who she is
Literally while he was saying Trickle Down is a descredited theory TGrus and Kwarteng were cooking up their own version of it.
You have to dig out the weird US funded peculiars from the Institute of Economic Affairs ( beloved of the “balanced” BBC to find those who dont think it was a mistake.
“Others” thought it was a mistake, as in, the entire population of the planet minus about 30 or so lunatic UK Conservatives.
Everyone thought Truss’ plan was bonkers – like her
I’ve been away for the just month when it comes to news. Can someone explain clearly why it was bad? I heard the tax cuts part but every Conservative gov pushes that so there had to be more to it? Unless I misunderstood. (Not supporting her plan, I genuinely don’t know what it was).
He did this then finished by having a lick of his ice cream. Talk about legend.
Sorry but Joe Biden is just saying what he’s told at this stage. I don’t really have an opinion on his stances or ideals but his mental faculties have declined to an extent where he isn’t really *him* anymore. I can’t see him reaching the end of his term without Harris having to formally step up.
He may well be right, but he also needs to keep his nose out of other countries business. Difficult for a septic president I know.
That’s hardly a secret though, Sunak was saying this very thing during the leadership contest, as was every economic expert in the UK. It was only those voting for her or those who hoped to profit off her plans that ignored the glaring warning signs.
