Truss: “*I’m not going to change my mind. I’ve already decided that I don’t care.*”
How about redistributing all the hoarded wealth at the top and giving it to the people that will actually spend it and get it back circulating in to the economy?
In a statement, Truss said “We understand this is a difficult time caused by Labour. I’ve already implemented the energy price cap to guarantee people pay no more than £2500 on their energy bills (in the background a minister is heard coughing loudly and mumbling “no that’s not exactly correct”). For that reason, we are today looking at how we can reduce taxes for the richest 10% to ensure, wait what were you asking about? Food banks? What I can say is all bankers will benefit from the tax cut, including those bankers working in the food bank”
The successive governments of the UK have done a sterling job of destroying the country. You should be proud of yourselves for voting for Labour, the Lib Dems and the Tories. Well done you. 👏 Rinse and repeat.
I used to volunteer at a foodbank and the public donating random stuff is a GALACTICALLY inefficient way of helping people. Just giving money and letting the foodbank buy basics (cereal, UHT milk, pasta, rice, sauces, tinned fish, crisps, tinned fruit, tinned veggies, toilet roll etc) is MUCH more effective.
No doubt giving the money directly to those in need is more effective again, but we cant have that apparently.
Me like many others I expect would feel embarrassed going to food banks, must feel awful mentally.
Personally I’d rather nick some stuff in tesco, I’d feel too ashamed and embarrassed.
I’m embarrassed by this government the most though.
Listening to Jeremy Hunt talk about everyone having to bare the weight of the economic crisis, you know that means benefits and pensions will not be seeing the cost of living increase in April.
Typical Tory “we are all in this together” rhetoric, then they make the poorest pay the highest price. History informs present.
I used to feel very financially comfortable just grabbing extra wipes at the till for the Superdrug charity box thing. Its honestly not an option now and my job hasn’t changed. The cost of fucking everything has.
But if the government help the poor, they won’t meet their poor killing targets.
Don’t you want the government to meet its targets?!
My projected energy usage is 3k. That is more than half my income. Not taking into account the bedroom tax I got to pay and everything else to go with it.
Already facing a financial deficit. I don’t know what I’m going to do and can’t seem to get any financial assistance despite the government banging on about what help is available.

HELP.
They will be told to get better jobs, cancel Netflix and to not go on holiday next year. The Tories are either too far removed from the poorest to truly understand the problem or simply do not care enough to do anything meaningful that might really help them. They seem to want us to be downtrodden and unwilling to fight back. They want their to be no safety net for us to rely on because they know that means we will accept anything for fear of falling into that abyss.
When the pie is bigger the can have their share then??
Genuine tory voter some months back: Vote tory or Labour will take our foodbanks away! (Through wage increase and wealth distribution policies)
