Doing Genealogy and need this translated to get a breakthrough in my research. I know he was born out of wedlock, but see a few names and other words that I can’t make any sense of to get a feel for the situation. r/Svenska recommended me to try here! Thank you in advance!!

  1. To the left it seems to say Anders illegitimate.
The text to the right seems to contain alot of the word “pigan” meaning maid but cant really see..

  2. I think it’s a record of the people who live in that farm. Service folk. “Dräng” means male farm worker.

  3. Also if I were to guess it says:
    1st row:
Modr (mother?) the maid Anna Britta? Erika dotter (daughter).
    Second and third row
cant see but possibly something with the maid Elsa and also maybe something with Wallaryds(?) socken (socken being a aold administative region in sweden)
    4th row:
    Peasant John Andersson.. unreadeble…Carl
    5th row:
    Tullborg i (in) .. unreadeble..
    6th row:
Daughter ? and the maid Pernilla Johns dotter (daughter)

  4. This is just my attempt at 10 in the morning.

    1. Modr. pigan anna (greta/brita) eriksdotter
    2. ?, ? Pigan Elsa ? har ?
    3. (Foglehult/Toglehult) af Hallaryds socken SMT
    4. Dräng John Andersson ifr. (ifrån) ? ?
    5. Tallberg i ? ? ? ?
    6. Dotter ifm(?) af pigan Pernilla Johansdotter ifm(?)

No idea what those abbreviations are, or if I’ve read em correctly

  5. – ?Modr? Pigan Anna Brita Eriks dotter i [a town/county, possibly Sveg??].
    – Pigan Elsa Pehrs dotter i ?Fog…hult? av Hallaryds socken …
    – Dräng Johan Andersson… ?Gast?
    – Carl Tullborg/Tullberg i ?Wartofta? (Spelled Vartofta today).
    – ?Hilda? Svens dotter ?ifm? och ?Petronella? Johns dotter ?ifm?

  6. If you could state the place and book/page it would be easier to lookup in better records. I guess these are the baptismal witnesses. There are several names, relationships and places mentioned.

**Modr. Pigan Anna Brita Eriks dotter i Kylen** (Mother the maid Anna Brita Eriksdaughter in Kylen)

**[Susd??] Pigan Elsa Peters dtr å Foglehult af Hallaryds Socken** (The maid Elsa Petersdaughter at Foglehult in Hallaryds parish)

**Dräng John Andersson ibm** (Farm hand John Andersson ibm = latin ibidem = same place)

**Änk. Carl Tullberg i Liltofta ?** (Änk = widower, Liltofta is probably a place)

**Hustrun (?)Nika Svens dotter ibm** (Wife Nika Svensdaughter, same place)

**och Pigan Petnilla Johnsdotter ibm** ( and Maid Petrinella Johnsdaughter, same place)

Remember, the priest was in a hurry, scribbled down what he heard (in his own spelling). You have to check names and places with other sources. Also, it helps to read up on patronymicon.

If you need some info, PM me and I’ll look in the church records

  7. The people listed to the right is the mother and possibly the godparents/baptismal witnesses.

Moder pigan Anna Brita Eriksdotter i Kylen [???]. Pigan Elsa Pehrsdotter i [Fogel?]hult, Hallaryds socken. [???]. Dräng Johan Anderson ibm. [Anders?] Carl Tullberg i [???]. Hustrun Nilla Svensdotter ibm och pigan Pernilla Johansdotter ibm.

“Mother, maid Anna Brita Eriksdotter from Kylen [???]. Maid Elsa Pehrsdotter from [Fogel?]hult, Hallaryd parish. [???]. Farmhand Johan Andersson ibm. [Anders?] Carl Tullberg from [???]. Wife Nilla Svensdotter ibm and maid Pernilla Johansdotter ibm.”

ibm is short for Latin ibidem meaning “in the same place”. It’s shortened to *ibid.* in English https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibid.
