  1. This’s how the government is possibly treating their future lawyers, doctors, architects, why the fuk would you stay here after being treated like that when u graduate

  2. Amazing they couldn’t find any of the people who are actually living in these tents to interview instead of the SU Welfare Officer… SU officers were always known for bending the truth…

  3. The moment they started to charge tuition fees was the moment the government turned its back on educating the country, they want life long renters, nothing else, the worse the country gets the more influential and powerful they will feel. Politicians having no fear of retribution or consequences has lead to this, shitty parenting and a life of anti-social behaviour. Maybe the parents of TDs should be vetted.

  4. They don’t care about being outdoors when they are dancing on roofs in collage court during lockdowns and beyond so I have very little sympathy for them.

  5. 11am is such a bad time to do it, the lectures won’t even have started when the clock strikes 11. The should’ve done it at 11:15

  6. Should the number of places these colleges hand out factor in the accommodation available in respective cities/ towns?

  7. And yet the Government still won’t care. The neoliberal ideology they follow is to rise asset prices as high as possible so the capitalist class can profit, regardless how the rest of the country fares. The only way things will change is when this government is out, and when we as a nation start regarding housing as a home and a social good, rather than an asset.

This protest is a great demonstration but it needs to be followed up with more action for there to be change. Learn about how and why this crisis came about, speak to friends and family about it and make sure this becomes an issue in the front of everyone’s minds, and most importantly, vote in the next election

  8. Mature student here currently doing my 4th year.

Dont blame them. And some of the houses I’ve seen are fucking shocking. Shouldnt be legal. First year I had to go into one of the houses of my friends and help them clean the black mold that was all over the bathroom. Absolute health hazard. This was in september. Same landlord would let himself into the house whenever he felt like it. He was ‘reminded’ of tenancy rights when it got too much and to not let himself in.

Last month a friend of mine called me in tears over the issues she has in her house, its freezing cold in her room as its ground floor and there’s a gap that lets the wind in. She’s only been in there a month and wants to move but cant find anywhere.
