EU representative Eero Heinäluoma (sd) tells IS that he received confirmation on the matter at the two-day meeting of the European Dems (ESP) in Berlin at the end of the week.

    – The Hungarian parliamentarians said that the parliament has strong support for Finland’s and Sweden’s NATO memberships and that the parliament would ratify the memberships at its session on October 24.

That is, one week from now on Monday.

ACCORDING TO HEINÄLUOMA , he was told about it in a private conversation, so he does not want to reveal the names of the people who told him about it.

    – But the matter is progressing in a good spirit, Heinäluoma adds.

After Hungary, only Turkey remains out of the 30 NATO countries, which has not accepted the membership of Finland and Sweden.

According to Heinäluoma, representatives of Turkey were also present at ESP’s meeting in Berlin, who said that they have a positive attitude towards the membership of Finland and Sweden.

Unlike Hungary, membership applications in Turkey have not even been submitted to parliament yet, as President Recep Tayyip Erdogan plays his own political games regarding membership approvals.

  2. It makes sense, this was always the schedule. The previous one start of the month was a vote brought up by the minority parties.
