That thing is crazy big. Like, it breaks some kind of laws of physics big.
If I ever get rich I’m gonna try buy one of those and I’m gonna build a town on it
Just an Anglo expedition to our mates across the pond.
A bit of forced perspective going on here – look at the size of the tugs compared to the buildings!
I absolutely HAVE to go up the round tower one day for her entering or leaving port
I was lucky enough to be in Portsmouth when they were both in port, as well as a few other ships, did the harbour tour as part of the Portsmouth historic Dock yard (highly recommend for all ages…apart from maybe baby…had a very tired toddler in the HMS Victory during the heat wave, had to carry them through…the rooms and doors get shorter the deeper you go and its a one way system, that was an experience), and those ships are huge. We got fairly close, and they’re staggeringly huge.
Also, as an aside, if you like boats, highly recommend the historic Dock yards, and the restaurant above the boathouse where they’re doing the restoration work, highly recommend.
How come the Soviets/Russians and Chinese don’t have one? Too expensive? No good expertise? don’t need one? I’m sure the Soviets/Russians would have liked a blue water navy, no?
Beautiful photo with excellent resolution. Wish I could zoom in more on Reddit
She made it to the US and back… It’s a fucking miracle.
