Isnt it amazing how generous companies can be when they need our money…
The fact that Waitrose shoppers are being squeezed is the real story here. These are people that wouldn’t have had to think about money a couple of months ago.
Excellent news. It’s a disgrace that it was ever done away with in the first place. I used to cherish my free latte whenever I went to my local, and sometimes I’d even give it away to the homeless man outside if I’d already swung by Gail’s that day. The fact that free drinks are now being touted as a cost of living consideration is a telling indictment of how the upper middle class are being squeezed by our out-of-touch Tory overlords
Whatever happened to getting a free paper after spending a certain amount? If they reinstate that I’m going Waitrose and only Waitrose
This will make me switch back to M&S instead, free drinks bring all the riff raff in.
But what if a scruffy oik should get their hands on one!
Brining it back in hopes to retain customers. At least the food retail market is hugely competitive, we might see even more ‘bonuses’ from retailers.
Desperate times, to giveth then to take away only to giveth again when nobody comes to you anymore.
They’re pretty fucked and you can’t just change your store’s entire identity, something you’ve built up over years for people to associate with higher end and pricey.
It’s clear they don’t know what to do and the free coffee is the only feasible thing they can bring to the table, pretty sad that’s the best thing they could think of. I bet the Xmas sales numbers are going to be pretty hard to read.
They’re days are numbered, I wonder which store is on the chopping block next.
Oh don’t you worry – the machines will regularly be out-of-service at peak hours. Just like the McDonalds ice cream machine, and the lack of sandwiches to make a meal deal at Sainsburies.
All fine and well having offers, but stop limiting them underhandidly.
We might see a return of braseros too in some quarters with pensioners huddled around them.
