I’m not very good at the “Irony” definition thing and often get it wrong.
Like, I’m forever calling things Ironic that don’t actually fit the real definition of it. A bit like Alanis Morissette I suppose.. (Is that Ironic? That very few of the stories in her song about irony were actually Ironic?)
Anyway… The fact that a load of landlords are pulling out of the market. And this is leaving a load less rental properties available for people… And it’s going to make the housing crisis way worse.
If anything, it’s upping the proportion of “Rentcorp” type vulture fund properties.
They’re the big lads that seem to be able to control markets by mad tactics like leaving large numbers of properties vacant unless a minimum value is reached.
Well, that all seems to be the direct result of populist type policies & restrictions that were rushed onto the rental market.
A load of restrictions that were specifically designed to limit landlords ability to make money in an order to force the situation.

Is that Irony?
[renters aren’t a majority](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_home_ownership_rate) but I agree with the spirit of the meme
Still outnumbered by homeowners
