Hi, just read about government planning to trace everything you buy at supermarkets to your ID, bank card ( https://www.lifeinnorway.net/norway-to-track-all-supermarket-purchases/ )
Is there any campaign to protest it? Thanks

Or get a crypto card
Is this on any other news sites?
Yeah, thats not gonna happen. We have a system to stop overreaches like this.
This info cant be traced back to individuals tho can it? SSB wants all receipts, the receipts doesnt show any information that reveals identity. Card number for example is hidden, except last 4 digits, etc.
That information is already being collected by private companies, e.g. the supermarkets themselves. It’s also mentioned in that article that is linked here, SSB is asking for access to data which is already being collected and stored.
I’m a staunch opponent of data collection like this, but I’d *much* rather have SSB use and handle it responsibly for *something useful* with oversight as opposed to the wild west situation with private data collection. In other words, I’d rather have it be of benefit to our society than just used to pump up the profit margins of Reitan and co.
This goes for other areas as well, where Norwegian- and foreign companies have mountains of data on our citizens that is being sold on an open market, where SSB has to spend public resources on buying it back in order to do research on it.
Again, I’d much rather we introduce strict limitations and regulations on data collection, but SSB isn’t the first place we should be pointing fingers.
