What’s a normal water consumption on average for family of 4 ? We’ve been trying reducing all costs and wondering if we can go even lower.

  1. Well I use 34m³ (me & 2x 10y old) per year and thought that was low but you’ve broken that thought lol.

    Average is 120m³ or something.

  2. I think this is what is called in reddit terminology, a humblebrag. Because yes, 2m3 per person is very low indeed.

  3. I am more curious what you did in 2018-2019 and you are not doing now anymore to get to these kind of savings?

You got rid of the pool? 🙂

  4. I think it’s way more benefitial to focus on gas and electricity for now

You are fishing in a drained pool, buddy

  5. We have an average of 100m³ per year and have a ´regenput´ of 15000l.

What I’m really interested in is how you get to 6m³, cause that’s really impressive!!

  6. you can go lower if you all die of dehydration, or by infections incurred by stopping to wash yourselves completely?

Jk, i have no idea how you did that. and no inkling of how you can get it any lower. Drill a well? 😀

  7. A reference point is that 30m³ per person per year is considered by water companies “normal usage”, and anything above as “comfort usage” which costs twice as much (though there is also a bonus 30m³ per house per year)

  8. Nice humblebrag. You could go even lower if you use your own piss to wash yourself and only drink rainwater. Good luck!

  9. family of 4. last year we had 37m2 of water consumption.

It helps that we are doing rain water recuperation. Without that I think we would double the amount of water consumption

  10. Lol what are those numbers even? Do you not take showers? Jfc that’s ridiculously low

  11. That’s low af already. I use 2 to 3 m3 per month as a single dude with 2 cats and a pond I occasionally need to top up a bit.

  12. This is such a showoff post. Downvote.

Hey r/belgium, what is the normal amount in a savings account? Look at this picture of my 5 million euro account.

  13. Thanks to the internet i learned that there is one very healthy way of reducing your consumption… Basic Fit (€19,99) you can sport and have a free hot shower and for 29,99 you can invite 6 friends also..

  14. These numbers are absolutely ridiculous, even the first years. I’d say anything below 20m³ per person is a very low usage. Sure, use rain water for toilets etc, don’t waste, I get it. But this is – as many people pointed out – in the crazy zone.

If you consume 8m³ in Brussels that would cost you 60 euro in 2022 (of which half is a fixed fee). That’s €1.25 euro per person per month!

You’d better save some money in other ways. Or work 1 extra day in an entire year and earn it all back haha

On a supportive yet slightly sarcastic note, you’ve exhausted your methods to reduce water consumption. Next step is to move to water production. Maybe consider adding dew harvesting to the things you can do.

  15. I have very deep well that gives clean water, we use it for everything except drinking. For 3 ppl the drinkwater alone is around 2-3m³ a year. But at such low volume its basicallt free. The fixed costs outweigh it
