France begins nationwide strike amid soaring inflation

  1. I like that about French people. When they don’t like something they protest. Maybe not always they’re in the right, but at least they’re proactively trying to keep their gov in check.

  2. How is protesting against inflation going to do anything when France already ditched the Franc and handed all currency control over to the EU & ECB?

Are they protesting for the ditching of the Euro and return to the Franc so they have control of their currency?

What’s their desired end goal here?

The article is very light on details other than they want higher wages …but won’t that further fuel inflation as goods & services will need to cost more to pay those increased wages?

  3. Putin is smiling. He and Xi both believe democracy is weak. They believe “the people” are just too weak and stupid to rule themselves. Make the people suffer and they’re crack—eventually, they think. The people, they believe, need to be ruled by men like them. Maybe they’re right. But I hope not.

  4. Such a shame, this will prolong the planned outages of some of thier reactors that will be very much needed during the winter…

  5. Globalism has always been a mirage, and criticizing it a few years ago meant receiving furious criticism from the left. European politicians voted by their citizens have put Europe in a position of extreme weakness. It hasn’t been overnight, but over decades of bad decisions. Do you remember when Trump started fighting China with tariffs? Well, now Biden is going to take another step in his protectionist direction. And even in this economic war, we will continue to owe the United States the protection of our continent, because we are incapable of doing it on our own, and thank it for supplying us with gas, even at a speculative price, because Europe has preferred to put an end to the nuclear and thermal power plants while the rest of the world has not. Will we save the planet by drowning ourselves? I do not think so.

  6. Just wanted to know, can’t the government persuade the refinery companies to elevate the salaries? (Instead of requisition) I mean that will be one problem gone for now!

  7. While the inflation rate in food products was around 7.2 %, other countries in the country peaked at 90%.
