Speaking of solving the Housing Crisis, I was on this call when Pat Leahy warned Vulture and Cuckoo Funds about the dangers a Sinn Féin government might pose to their investment returns. Totally normal thing for the Political Editor of the Irish Times to be doing, amirite.

  1. Is anyone else genuinely concerned that we’re getting to a point now where the editors of our newspapers are having video calls and giving advice to foreign investment funds buying up property in our country? At what point do we accept that these newspapers have been compromised and are nothing more than a mouthpiece for foreign corporations looking to drain Irish renters dry? I’m genuinely concerned now as to where our country is headed.

  2. I honestly don’t believe a single thing that podcast grifter says. He’s currently being sued because he talked some absolute shite on twitter, got corrected, and then claimed the person who corrected him was lurking in the bushes outside his house/stalking him. He’s absolutely full of shit, I simply do not believe him.

[And here he is heavily implying a govt TD is corrupt because said TD wore the free t-shirt you get for doing a charity run.](https://twitter.com/Trickstersworld/status/1563074741878960130?s=20&t=F7lfeGx0tWzadWe8daA35g) He’s not remotely credible.

  3. What exactly is the perceived problem here? Sinn Féin’s stated position is to be more problematic for vulture and cuckoo funds? They have railed against the tax advantages some funds get. They’d have said the exact same thing if they were there, I assume.

Without having heard it it sounds like a journalist was having a discussion about an important societal issue with some of the companies involved, and he mentioned that the most popular party in the country, who may be in power soon, will pass policies that are bad for them. That’s… ok? That’s a thing that Sinn Fein want to do? You use the word ‘warned’ because lol but like, are you really worked up over this? Not even Sinn Fein are worked up over this.

  4. Pretty sure he’s merely offering his opinion on the potential impact to those investors. He’s a politico after all. Perfectly reasonable to bring him in for his take..

  5. By “warned… about the dangers…” does he mean “talked about the potential implications”? I’m sure there always calls like this going on around elections.

Also, the call was nearly 3 years. Did he just remember?

  6. “…a discussion with Pat Leahy, Political Editor of the Irish Times, **on the results, the implications and the possibilities for government formation.”**

Yes, this is totally normal. It was literally the point of the call.

Whatever you think of the opinion itself, the idea that the Political Editor of a newspaper shouldn’t be giving his political opinion is nonsensical. It’s his job.

  7. That conference call is from 2020 speaking about Sinn Fein’s proposals, who could have been the leading party but sabotaged themselves by not putting enough candidates forward because they knew that however attractive their proposals were, that they were not economically viable and they would have failed on basically all of the things that got them elected and ruined their reputation for the foreseeable future…. that Sinn Fein?

Wtf kinda of post is this.
