I live just down the road in York and it all feels a bit like Nimbyism to me. They voted for brexit and for the Tories but don’t want the to face any downsides. Honestly, the number of houses up for sale round there last year was astonishing. Using an ex RAF site seemed as good a way as any imo, given the all round shiteness of the situation.
These people were the same people who wanted to house refugees, give them spare rooms etc a year ago.
Tbh as much as I don’t like NIMBYism they have a point theres nothing like the infrastructure there
