If EU wants to save power it should cut monthly Strasbourg move, says MEP

  1. Good point. This whole unnecessary, tax payer funded, circus only serves to stroke the French ego.

  2. Honestly, the argument that to “change perspective” is so stupid. Let’s go from one western french-speaking city with Germanic influence to another western french-speaking city with Germanic influence.

If the Parliament met in like Krakow, Naples, Thessaloniki etc. the argument would at least have some ground

  3. I can only understand the fight for this from the perspective of Strasbourg and the jobs it gives French people. Other than that we’re simply paying money for a municipality to jerk off.

The EU is supposed to be a project that breaks down nationalism and national barriers. Either have the rotation be total – i.e. every year different country, or not have it at all.

  4. Believe me, most meps want to stop the move, since it not only is unnecessary but also stressful for everyone including the meps. Imagine having to move all your work just bcs of that shit. The only one supporting the move are French patriots or EU saboteurs. But at least the French patriots would be alright with moving the parliament permanently to Strasbourg. Honestly I would be alright if it permanentlx be French as long as the move does not happene, in any case it’s the only way France wouldn’t veto a permanent parliament proposal
