Great, let us all try to make plans while you dither, so you can pull the rug out at the last moment
It’s almost like they’re trying to screw it up at this point 🤬
They can say what they like I have no intention of following the bullshit rules.
I think regardless of the decision they make, people will have no intention following it and doing what they like.
Lmao. Okay. Make your “decision”. I’ll be celebrating my Christmas as normal regardless. I recommend everyone do the same. Turn off your TVs. Stop listening to these idiots. Enjoy Christmas with your loved ones, you don’t know how many more you’ll get.
In other words they’ll wait to see whether increased restrictions poll well as cases rise.
Doubt we’ll see a lockdown again.
Regardless of what they do or don’t say no one is going to obey any restrictions at Christmas this year
Do they really think people are going to follow the rules this Christmas when the Government broke them last year by having a party? Christ.
I just can’t see a Christmas lockdown being adhered to this time and they probably know that. I think it will be ‘enjoy Christmas’ then into a lockdown in January when far less people will complain.
Disingenuous headline – there is no Christmas decision in their hands under current guidance. They have vaccine passports left as a plan b – would be interesting if they tried to enforce that in peoples homes
I’m sure everyone will cancel their plans and stay at home
I don’t think we’ll see a lockdown ever again, and I’m glad for that to be the case. If vaccines are enough to keep things sort of under the control, than all the awful measures like the social ones should be gone.
I also don’t think it would particularly help Tories politically. Yes, old people like the measures, but most of them will vote Tory anyway. And the middle aged part of people that might either vote Tory or something like libdem is definitely not in favor of any measures.
The new variant is already here and spreading and will continue to do so, so I don’t see what difference their decision on the 18th will make. Any kind of restrictions will be to late by then so why bother?
People will take no notice and I don’t blame them. They have lost all trust in boris and his bunch of cronies.
What corruption are they trying to distract us from now?
Highly doubt anybody would lockdown for Christmas.
People would have been more willing to “save Christmas” by doing more beforehand, but not letting shit get way out of hand and having a last ditch reaction a week before Christmas Day
The weekend when most people will be doing their big Christmas shop? I can see what the government really care about a mile off.
FUCK THEM! I HAVE A FERRY BOOKED FOR THE 19TH. IT WAS LITERALLY THE EARLIEST I COULD BOOM TO GET HOME FOR CHRISTMAS AFTER THEY FUCKED ME LAST YEAR. FUCK. THIS. GOVERNMENT.
’twas the week before Christmas, and all through one house, not a creature was stirring [*loud snoring*], but in the other…
‘Order!’
‘Yes, can I get a big brandy and lots of coke please’
‘Mr speaker, I think the right honourable gentleman wants a mirror’
‘I beg your… I beg his pardon, Mr speaker. There’s no hypocrisy invol…’
‘To cut his coke on’
[YUURRRRRR! Hyuk hyuk hyuk!]
‘On a point of order, Mr speaker…’
‘What’s the point of order?’
‘Yeah, that was my question. How did you know?’
Is there actually much reason to have a lockdown this Christmas? The majority of us have had two vaccines and the boosters are being rolled out to those who need them. Provided there are still people who keep wearing masks and use hand sanitiser on top of that we should be ok.
Last year it was necessary because case numbers were getting out of control and we didn’t have anything except avoidance measures to control it.
This Christmas just doesn’t feel like last Christmas. I’ve got family and friends who’ve worked in the NHS for years and last Christmas from their stories was a horror show, and while this year has been awful as well I’m just not getting the same sense of dread when they talk about work.
I socially distance, wear my mask, got my jabs and continue to take this seriously.
However, if Alexander Boris de Pfeffel IDONTFOLLOWRULESLIKEAPLEB Johnson says I can’t have turkey at my parents, then it will be a giant “fuck you, I’m still going, you hypocritical wank stain” from me.
Sorry. Remembering all the emotional turmoil from last year.
Who gives a crap what they decide? It’s one rule for us but another for them, right?
As a guy who’s spent the last two years taking more-than-extensive precautions to avoid Covid, while the rest of the country has been wriggling to get off the leash like a randy dog, and missed Christmas last year while Number 10 was having a jolly old time:
Fuck off Boris, you bloviating spunk puddle.
Oh cool, the day before my train as opposed to last year when i got the news of lockdowns ON the train.
Me and my family are double vaccinated, soon to be triple. What the fuck is the end goal here?
Yeah, I don’t give a fuck what this corrupt government says. I won’t be staying at home over Christmas for a second year in a row.
I have done everything right. I’ve worn a mask everywhere, double vaxxed as soon as possible, stayed at home and never broke the rules, but I will not let a government tell me what to do when they broke their own lockdown rules, pushed through Brexit and bled dry our social systems, lowering living standards and increasing inflation over the last 11 years.
We had to lockdown to hold out for a vaccine, if we have to lockdown again then there is no end goal, this will be never ending.
A lot of schools close on the 17th December. The last thing government wants to do is force schools to close without causing panic, parents unable to work. That’s the earliest he can impose restrictions without major consequences. It was the same last Christmas . The date has been chosen specifically.
So they’ll wait till we’ve all made our Xmas plans and done all the shopping before trashing them?
It’s insane the way this government think for one second any shite they say is going to stop me visiting my family on Christmas.
This is just a testing the waters exercise. By putting this news in all the papers they can gauge the public’s reactions to potential Christmas restrictions and try to minimise the complaints. This isn’t the first time they’ve done this during covid and probably won’t be the last.
Ah waiting til everyones bought their Christmas gifts before announcing so not to disrupt the economy. Classic
