Nurses can leave ‘if they want to’ – they have already had a pay rise, says Thérèse Coffey

  1. I hope she never needs hospital treatment. She’ll be a bit stuck when there are no nurses or dr’s left to care for her because they have all moved to Australia for better pay.

  2. This lot really don’t care anymore do they. They know the next election is lost so have well and truly taken the mask off

  3. I just really hope people remember the stuff that’s been coming out of their mouths since the late 2010s when they rebrand and try to do the whole Cameron one-nation-lets-all-come-together shit at the next election with a fresh-faced leader.

They have always been like this and these people (the likes of Rees-Mogg) have actively and knowingly bode their time before walking the political centre rightward from the 2010 manifesto to this in the last 12 years. That veneer of centre-slightly-right Toryism in 2010 was their ticket in, but not their aim.

Anyone who has voted for them, you have been *Con*ned. Swindled.

  4. Unhealthy health minster next for sacking then, can we have a vote to decrease MPs wages they get paid far too much and why should the taxpayer pay for a MP to have private health care, if the NHS is not fit the MP then its an indication that its not fit for the person who lent them their vote.

  5. This is the final stage now. Appoint someone who is generally accepted to be a cretin who kills it all off by being brash and arseholey all the way to the finish line.

  6. Coffey is an interesting figure. She’s a typical Tory in the sense that she hates benefit claimants, but probably the only one who’d encourage them to spend more on booze and fags.

    An enigma.

  7. Can’t wait for this moron to be sacked. I’ve literally got a countdown going for the next GE. Voting out these bastards will probably be one of the best things I’ll do in my life.

  8. I work in the NHS the old guard nurse’s are leaving in droves as they see the writing on the wall and they are on the old ( good ) pension scheme . The replacement pale insignificant and in a lot of cases there’s a serious language barrier. Sad state of affairs

  9. They want them to leave. They what it to fall apart so everyone goes :

Oh noes, save us from this with your private healthcare replacement by your US buddies.

People will half arsed resist this, then, when they need some operation/treatment or someone in their family does they’ll switch. Just like when doctors and nurses were saving lives with covid being heros of the nation, until people got bored.

  10. And they are leaving. My mother has been a nurse for over a decade and she’s now doing more hours with private healthcare as she feels like she’s getting paid what her skill is worth.

It’s not just the pay rise she’s pissed about either, they’re constantly treated like they are worthless, they don’t have the facilities they need and there’s such a huge staff shortage right now… and I’m not surprised there is with such miniscule wages, extreme parking costs and now having to pay for your training to become a nurse.

  11. its just another pop at the NHS and its staff, but this woman who is clearly as dumb as soup seems to think that the magic staffing tree will grow nurses for the Tories utopia of a fully privatised insurance driven healthcare system they are striving for.

  12. There very little left I can say about this vile attempt at a human that won’t leave me with a ban from this sub.

They want to see you suffer. They want to inflict pain on the most vulnerable for profit. If you vote Tory you’re either a rich cunt or just a cunt. If you’re unsure of which, check your bank balance.

I’m genuinely thinking we should all start to emotionally blackmail the older generation into not voting Tory. What’s that nan, voted tory again? No more seeing the grandkids for you!

  13. That woman is absolutely awful. I saw her on a GMB interview earlier in the week and she comes across as a person who thinks she’s the smartest person in the world, but in reality is dismissive, arrogant and quite frankly, stupid.

  14. Imagine placing a walking heart attack in the role of health sectary. Only two years ago these people were clapping for Nurses now theyre telling them to fuck off. The distain I have for this government knows no bounds. I cannot wait until all of them are out of office. I also look forward to her keeling over. Cancer, Stroke (Thatcher special) or Heart Disease which kills her first?

  15. Yeah. Becoming a more highly paid agency nurse is just the logical thing to do.

It’s worrying to hear a health secretary say it – during a strike ballot. It’s mostly like they want to make the NHS worse so they can justify a private system…

  16. I got my back dated nhs payrise this month. Immediately lost every cent in tax due to higher wage packet. They essentially just gave it back to themselves to missapropriate at will

  17. This is a woman, who as health minister failed to answer the question “is smoking dangerous?”. Her rationale for dodging the question was that the state shouldn’t dictate actions to people; In the same notion however she refuses to allow staff to negotiate for better pay and working conditions.

Her ideology is directly opposed to the NHS and the concept of state run health care. She is a free market capitalist, but refuses to let the market negotiate itself. She is going to be the genuine collapse of certain NHS services.

  18. This new cabinet here. Really are all just cunts. Pay the people, who save lives every day a decent, feckin wage.if only they were on MPs wages??.

  19. As a nurse. I’m concerned about this lady’s need for a BP checkup and also maybe some gastro input. It’s not normal to have that amount of shit coming from your mouth.
