I work for an ISP and unfortunately it’s been obvious for months this could happen, I have no say in it and completely feel rotten for the customers. – I always check if there is something I can refund if possible to help and if they say *payments* and not *paid*, I’ll check for eligibility for the UC “Essentials” package.
What’s the justification for such exorbitant increases?
As Telecomms is now seen as an essential , same as power, they have us by the short and curlys.
I’ve been a Virgin broadband customer for 17 years. For the first 9-10 years they increased the bill by less than a pound each year and/or increased the speed.
In the past few years they’ve just been taking the piss with the price increases, when I worked it out last year they’d increased the price by a third in three years.
There’s no alternative for fast broadband here, hopefully that’ll change soon.
At this point “Broadband Communism” doesn’t sound like such a bad idea does it?
I work for a large telecoms firm. My phone bill has gone up by 14% (inflation plus 3.9%).
My wages have gone up by 3.8% since pre-covid.
So it ain’t going in my fucking pocket that’s for sure.
We ordered bt broadband at the beginning of the month and they can’t activate ours till the 18th even though we have the equipment and socket and it just needs activating this was the same for any company I looked at.
I’ve got new build with bt fiber optic, not sure I can switch to another fiber optic provider. Presumably bt own the cabling..
Been just using our 5G data in our household, been more reliable and means not having to deal with broadband customer service
