Are these protests really happening in Switzerland? Or is this misrepresented/misappropriated from some other event?

  2. Not always of this size, but they are happening regularly since the beginning of the year (usually weekly on Saturday)

  3. Personally, I am happy that they are happening. I do disagree strongly with their view. But this is Switzerland after all. And democracy can only function if everyone has the right ro express their thoughts and view.

As Gödels incompletness theorems have shown, even mathematics – the core of modern science – is incomplete. Therefore, we need to allow discussions with everyone to find out if we are doing the right thing. And the protesters are doing their parts in this.

One thing I hope for is, that after the pandemic emotions will cool down again. It is not the easiest time for everyone. However, I hope to see our members of Bundesrat will be able to make normal things like taking a train, eating a sandwich on the street or go shopping without bodyguards.

  4. Opposing voices will always look bigger than the general population since those that agree or are ok do not protest so much.

  5. Yes it happened.

The video is from one week ago where an authorized demonstration against the Anti-Covid-Measures took place in Bern.

They basically try to make demonstrations every week, but often they are unauthorized and usually there are much fewer people than last week-end.

Persons who attend this protest are mostly in some way against the Covid-Measures but it’s really a wild, heterogenous mix of ideologies. You have conspiracy nutjobs who think that Covid is a lie and/or a scheme of the “New World Order”. You have tons of esoterists and believers of snake-oil-medicine which typically are Antivaxxers. You also have radical libertarians aka egomanic-extremists. You have neonazis who abuse the protests to recruit. And you simply have tons of bored people who do it as leisure pursuit.

It’s indeed a but shocking how many persons can be rallied for such an event. But it is what it is.

  6. We have stupid people in Switzerland just the same as the rest of the world; ok they’re politer, no on drives cars into the crowds, or storms the Bundesversammlung, but the intelligence test that the vaccine represents these days still has some remediale PR to do. We’re only at 66% vaccinated.

  7. Yes it is, it’s our attempt at darwinism we let them assemble together and infect each other and the majority stays at home. On Monday we then walk out with our vaccines and our masks properly placed in the public transports and wait.
