EU is leaving “naivety” behind with China, Dutch foreign minister says

  1. China better be ready!

    – When Greece will refuse to even sign the yearly useless non binding human rights principles (EU let them become China bitches), we will say “not nice”.

    – When Hungary will veto every position detrimental to China, we will now say “that’s not friendly”.

    – When Germany will go under the table to help lower the fall of german car sales in China, we will whisper in a judgmental tone “Germany don’t make too much noise when you are pleasuring mr. Xi”.

    – France doesn’t have more good vinewards, castles or industry to sell to China so nothing to worry about. They are more advanced, they cannot give more stuff to China!

    – When Lithuania will continue to stand tall against the growing bully, instead of looking away we will now squint our eyes to show that we are not happy. Of course, we will not squint too much otherwise we could appear racist or worse loose some market share.

  2. You gotta love those in-depth, two paragraph articles.

Also, naivety would imply people were genuinely oblivious about anything from human rights abuses, to industrial espionage, to the infiltration of the academic sector China. Everyone knew – it is more that the mess with Russia and the Covid pandemic have shown what happens if you place all your eggs in other people’s baskets.

  3. The naivity of being too dependent on a large power with a very different world view.

Not the naivity of dealing with constant human right violators.
