UK telcos legally required to remove Huawei equipment

  1. And no doubt replace with equipment from the good ol USA, who can definitely be trusted having never done mass surveillance on anyone ever…

  2. Article says it’s due to US pressure. So companies like BT and Vodafone have paid big money for this tech and then we have to pay again to replace it, to appease the US gov?

This the “free trade” I’ve heard so much about?

  3. US has a problem with Hauwei. Great to see that US foreign policy is being enforced by the UK! One step closer to becoming the 51st state of the good ol USA

  4. I trust Chinese spies with my data more than USA spies, the Chinese spies have to at least translate my information into Chinese and given a good 3% of the words I use are typos or completely made up they can’t have an easy time

  5. I’m glad to see it finally clarified that this ban won’t apply to purely passive components manufactured by Huawei.

  6. odd. what if I care more about my data not going to USA, and I don’t mind China?

is the government forcing opinions on me again?

  7. Thing is, if Huwawei weren’t wigging in before, you can bet they are now.

This all feels like it is cheeks of the same arse. Brexit and Huwawei.

  8. The threat Chinese tech faces is overtaking American tech in their own country. The US has tried to ban TikTok, WeChat, Alipay, Huawei, etc. on the grounds of national security but nobody has ever come up with any evidence of this happening? When has China ever meddled in other countries affairs, like the US does?
