Anyone know what this symbol over a door means?

  1. IHS – IHΣΟΥΣ/Iησους (transliterated into the Latin is Iesus/Jesus)

It is a monogram for the name of Jesus and in this case was for a tile produced for the Eucharistic Congress in 1932.

  2. If you squint you can make out the NHS in the religious setting – a reminder to pray for the poor sods over the border in the UK who have to depend on the NHS
