It really is incredible. I am hungry as I write. In fact my stomach hurts a bit. That’s because I cannot afford food, my benefit doesn’t stretch that far, so 3-4 days before payments, every fortnight, I don’t eat. I can make milk stretch those days sometimes, so I have tea or coffee, but no food. And in this position, I’ve been sanctioned (over a year ago) from having missed an appointment because I had no busfare. Now I know my life will be that much harder in the next year or two at least. Don’t know what the point is anymore.
