“Our cash-starved hospitals are falling apart at the seams, from crumbling roofs to ageing equipment,” said Daisy Cooper, the Liberal Democrats’ health spokesperson. “Patients deserve to be treated in clean and modern hospitals, while our hardworking NHS doctors and nurses should feel safe in work. Sadly, as we speak, hospital buildings across the country literally have roofs which might collapse at any moment.”

I’m sure a Tory donor or two would be happy to take on the repair contracts, at triple the cost of course.
It really is nice to know how much damage the Tories have done in just 12 years. We need a full inquiry and the Tories need to be punished not just in an election but in other ways.
And this is why we must cut taxes for the rich even further. We need to trickle-down £10bn to save the NHS!
“Cost of eradicating NHS repairs backlog hits” sure is a funny way of saying “Government has so far systematically withheld NHS repairs to the tune of”
I thought the gov said the NHS has the most money is ever had? If so, why is there a £10bn repairs list?
Estates and facilities management are always the first to have their budgets slashed.
It’s the same with schools and probably most public buildings. I used to be a facilities manager at a school where the roof was literally collapsing due to neglect when it was under the LEA. We had to get a special loan from the DofE after threatening to close the school because it was so dangerous. Now the school has had to get rid 4 teaching staff so repay the loan.
10 seems to be the magic number, 10hn for repairs 10% of the population on a NHS waiting list, whats the next 10.
Great to know that Truss has wasted more money than this just by opening her mouth. Instead of buying back bonds thanks to her shitshow mini budget we could have funded this.
