Liz Truss on collision course with Jacob Rees-Mogg over solar power ban | Solar power

  1. There seems to be an ideological fixation with stopping solar power from the Truss regime, quite literally.

I’d hazard a guess there’s at least two factors at work. Firstly, influence from the climate change deniers in the USA via the network of think tanks based in Tufton Street. The very existence of renewables seems to offend them, partly as it cuts into their backers profits, partly because it acknowledges climate change is real and is a problem.

The second factor is a macho bullshit factor. Oil and coal are dirty and dangerous, the kind of thing “real men” do. Fracking is drilling, small earthquakes, wresting gas out of the very bedrock. Nuclear is big, complex, engineering; high prestige, something to point to as an accomplishment. Renewables are none of these things.

  2. I can’t think of two better humans to collide with each other, I think they should be on motorbikes, no helmets and no speed limits so they would be free of regulation.

  3. Hmmmm, I wonder why Liz Truss, former management accountant for shell, strongly connected to fossil fuel money backed Tuffton street, whose campaign was largely paid for by BP, would be against renewables?

  4. In a country that can only produce 50% of the food we need, it’s a stupid idea to put solar panels on farmland. It should become law that every new build, homes and businesses have to have solar panels.

  5. Until a large solar power lobby donates money to the Tories, the fossil fuel industry will always have their ear and control policies. They will do all they can to keep the renewable industry at a considerable disadvantage and the Tories will happily abide. It’s a shame because we could be green pioneers and sell that technology to the rest of the world.

  6. Lizard truss is a toxic little shit troll. I wish I had gone into politics as it seems to be the highest paid job any literal idiot can do well in
