Can someone explain this joke from Borgen to someone who knows nothing about Denmark (other than what they learned from watching Borgen)? Is Herlev vs. Hellerup like Harvard vs. Yale in the US?

It’s Municipalities in the greater Copenhagen area. People in Hellerup are usually seen as more posh than those in Herlev. A translation might might be: *”Baltimore? I thought he was from Boston! If I’d known that I’d never hired him”*
Hellerup is a posh upper class suburb of Copenhagen, while Herlev is a working class suburb.
Hellerup is a traditionally upper class neighborhood whose population has a reputation for being trust fund babies and having generational wealth. Herlev is more working class.
The joke comes from the stereotype that everyone from hellerup is rich, dumb and insuffurable. (Not entirely false if youve ever been there for extended periods of time)
Your suggestion is funnier (and more accurate) than you think! “Is Herlev vs. Hellerup like Harvard vs. Yale in the US?” Hahahahahha.
I will always think about Harvard and Yale in that way, from now on.
They’re areas, not universities. The joke is based on stereotypes about people living in said area, like the sterotype that all people in Hellerup are rich and annoying
No it is to driffrent neibgerhoods in copenhagen
