Because animal rights is our biggest problem in this country
The number 1 thing we need to do before anything else to do with animal rights is have an effective birth control of stray cats. There are just far too many of those
Too progressive
We need animal control and animal laws for sure. Although it’s nowhere near our biggest issue
This isn’t about animals at all. It is about the feelings of some people.
Animals are also the pigs, chickens and cows we eat, as well as other animals such as mice which we happy to eliminate because we consider pests.

Yes, we are talking about 100s of thousands of pigs and millions of chickens within a single year in Cyprus alone.
And this of course is happening on a global scale, while even in countries which are considered progressive they use animals not only for food, but also for their fur, tests etc, which reminds me of this: [Denmark to cull up to 17 million mink amid coronavirus fears](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-54818615)
I know some will argue: “But those animals are used for food, so it is different”. But is it really? Would these people be OK if cats and dogs were raised and slaughtered for their meet?
I don’t think so. The truth is that some people have some special affinity with certain kinds of animals (mostly animals which can be pets) and what they care to protect is their own feelings.
I know a lot of people who do not like facts will downvote this, but it had to be said.
I see the story repeat: they create the “animals rights Police” they put “their own”10 persons in (with political influence) do minimal work just to justify their own existence, every one are happy except from the average Cypriot that the money ripped off his pockets. I’m tax payers and I want my money not to spend in this! There are better things to spend on! Especially now that the economy is in downhill.
I want to see MONUMENTAL fines for anyone indescriminately and negligently throwing poison in public spaces.
