Family research question, as Hungarians how would describe the ethnicity of these people? From early 20th century, photos taken in northern Hungary.

  1. They pretty much look Romani. The northern and eastern part of Hungary has a large Romani population, also Slovakia has a hungaro-slovakian Romani population as well. But as others have said on this thread, this part of Europe is truly a melting-pot of the surrounding cultures and ethnicities, so they can have many different etchicities mixed at the same time, some features being more apparent than the others.
    Having Romani in that mix would be the most possible explanation to their darker complexion and distinctive facial features as well, considering the region they were from.
