  1. That’s fair enough, like. We’re up to our eyeballs in debt and we can’t just be paying (comparatively) big pensions to anybody who decides to come here to take advantage.

  2. It seems to be a very restrictive interpretation.
    Is it fair or reasonable to require the person to have been dependent on her daughter more than 11 years ago in another country to qualify as her dependent now in Ireland?

    Conversely, could this interpretation lead people to claim dependence on their descendants in their member states of origin in order to claim a state pension in another member state?

    Maybe for health/ age-related reasons she is now dependent on her daughter and needs to live nearby?
