Resume: Inflation is causing a huge increase in theft of food, some supermarkets are starting to apply anti-theft boxes to most stolen items including tuna, olive oil, codfish and others.
Most thefts are from old people who need to eat or desperate parents that want to feed their children.
Well, this is sad, and right when my family was making plans to move there in the near future.
In Italy we do the same with saffron sachets

but nothing is being done in order to avoid depredation of the seas.

The same with ham and roasted beef in UK, at least in my local coop. I mean raw meat.

I haven’t seen this, so I think it should be pointed out this is happening most probably in rural / low income areas.
Still, Portugal has a lot of economic issues next to inflation.
