This brooch has been in my family for a couple of generations. We don’t know who is depicted on it, when it was made, or where it came from. The back says “…stern Germany,” but we can’t decipher if that’s an “E” or an “A” before the “stern” so we’re not even sure which side of the wall it came from, or if it came from a city ending in “stern.” If it is referring to east/west, we at least know it’s between 1949 and 1990.
Any information from anyone would be appreciated. We know this is a shot in the dark that anyone will be able to provide much of anything on it. Thanks in advance.
Edit: maybe someone could even have generic information, like, this style of brooch was in fashion in whatever years, or something like that. Anything will be helpful. 🙂
Edit 2: I found [the same image](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1280143796/vintage-victorian-portrait-brooch) for sale in a brooch on Etsy for $25. And another with this image on eBay for $10, both with different borders than this.

I would guess it’s a name? “A. Stern, Germany” or something like that, probably the name of the goldsmith.
If it meant East or West Germany, it would be that, not “western” just “west”.
