  1. Can’t tell whether this is a shit post or if you are beinf serious. In case of the latter:

If you want people to identify things for you… mushrooms, bugs, leaves, whatever… the key is to upload a usable picture, preferably from different angles and views.

  2. Of course you can eat ANY mushroom, but some only once.

So no, I do not recommend eating it 🙂

  3. Ah yes, the age-old question one asks every time one sees something unfamiliar: “Can I eat it?”

Also, you really shouldn’t taste something if you need to ask about it on the internet. There’s no certain way to tell which mushroom this is just by image alone.

  4. do not fucking listen to anything we say and do not eat them. Remember you are putting your life at stake based on the expertise of redditors

  5. Finnish protocol for foraging edible mushroom: you don’t pick anything you are not able to identify yourself. And no, asking people on internet does not count.

How to identify edible mushooms then? Well, you have to learn by gradually buiding up a ”catalogue” of species you identify by their unique lists of identifying characteristics. It’s a skill that takes study and patience to develop. Easiest when learning from a human expert, but possible also by getting yourself some books and going to forage and building your skill base that way.

As for these clumps of biomass in OP’s photo, well…. First off, even if these specimen were still identifiable your photos lack neccessary id characteristics. (See fungi literature on how to take id photos)

These specimen however are way past the point in their lifecycle, where they would be identifiable or edible. They might have been either Armillaria borealis or Lyophyllum fumosum. Or something else entirely.

To sum it up: if you send -any- picture of mushroom to any Finnish mushroom group, and ask ”can I eat this?” the only responsible answer you’ll ever get is ”No”

If you get anyone on the internet to give you ”permission to eat” in Finland for a mushroom you have not identified _yourself_ this means you’re not talking with a reliable expert.

  6. You can eat any mushroom you find from nature. Sure most of them will kill you or make you sick but those are just excuses. What I can tell from the picture is that those are definitely edible kind of mushrooms. What I can NOT tell is whether you will survive if you do.

  7. Every mushroom is eatable! Atleast once! (Old saying)

    But yea! Regonice it first.
Tell us if you find what is it😊👌

  8. My God! I do love humans of reddit! What’s this and can I put it in my mouth posts always make me smile. Thank you for the smiles.

  9. Dunno but a good rule of thumb is to not eat stuff that looks like a fungal growth prop in a horror game
