There is an actual forest in Germany called Zauberwald (magical forest), because it seems so strange. It was created by a huge landslide some tens of thousands of years ago, which also created the nearby Hintersee.
I can recommend visiting it at some point. its in the deep of southern Bavarian near Berchtesgaden!
