Deputy prime minister Therese Coffey repeatedly answers she’s ‘not aware’ when asked about government policies

  1. It’s been FIVE WEEKS since Truss was appointed and parliament has been shut for almost all of that time. This should be the most well-prepared start to a government in history.

  2. Jesus wept, thats incredible, when she was at the DWP she talked (using some questionable maths) about people needing to get a job to replace the UC cut, but in the real world if you had a meeting where you were asked about your company, unless that company in the mafia, and answered questions as badly as this you would be sacked.

  3. Must frustrating round of interviews during a time of mass uncertainty, couldn’t even answer the question about whether smoking is harmful without a 5 minute waffle. Only said her stance is the government stance and reminded me of the Churchill dog

  4. Good friend with Truss so obviously given top job for her loyalty. Unfortunately totally useless and completely out of her depth. Would struggle running a school tuck shop.

  5. Either she is aware and not saying or Truss is not telling anyone anything, both are equally likely given the competence of both of them.

  6. She always looked like someone who’d be better suited to selling Meat Draw Tickets at a Working Men’s Club… Guess I over-estimated her ability because it turns out she is actually very well suited to being Liz Truss’ backup.

  7. Well that gives you a lot of confidence. Obviously there are no plans for anything they are just making it up on the hoof, probably in response to public opinion.

  8. Then why is she there is the first place?

Just to say : CYes ma’am, Yes Sir three bags full ‘?

    Is that it?

  9. “Is it possible to get a more useless deputy PM than Dominic Raab?”

    “Hold my Coffey…”

  10. Out of interest have any ministers from this government actually managed to get through an interview without it turning into a car crash yet? Just a single one?

  11. I think this whole conservative govt is out of it’s depth, and they are just letting the country go to shit because they know they have no chance at the next general election

  12. Incompetence is now a prerequisite for becoming a Tory cabinet minister, it appears. And PM, come to think of it.

  13. She is such a thick turd it’s incredible how low the bar is

I bet most of the country could do a better job or at least as well

  14. The deputy PM who also “runs” the largest department…. May be this is the master plan – make the DoH smaller???

  15. How on Earth can a deputy PM come on a major news program so ill prepared? And apparently un-phased by being unable to answer question any junior minister would know by heart, she unashamedly admits to not knowing. It’s beyond belief.

It looks like the Tory management are well aware the current cabinet are going to get slaughtered in career ending fashion for the policies their being supplied to deliver, on their way to losing the next election, and be utterly incapable of defending themselves in the media. So, instead of sacrificing any able, connected people they’ve put forward the worst fucking deadbeats in the party as cannon fodder. The entire cabinet are fucking hopeless.

  16. The media were making a great show about how this is “The most diverse Cabinet in British history”

Maybe they should of gone with “the most inept” instead.

  17. To be fair she probably doesnt have a clue, just her boss, not exactly brains of Britain in that cabinet

  18. Jesus Christ. I work in compliance for a medium sized business. I have to be aware of laws so I can make sure policy aligns to them. She’s a fucking MP and has taken zero time out of her life to just read. All the white papers are available online it’s so easy to see what’s coming up. Even the green party subreddit do a plain English rundown of what laws are passing. It’s so easy to find out. This deliberate incompetence makes me so mad.

  19. They might as well have just grabbed someone off the street for that interview.

Even if she wasn’t the deputy PM, she’s still a cabinet minister, and she’s not even *aware* of what her government is or isn’t doing? Even if she wasn’t the Health Secretary, surely MPs should have some idea of what might be going on? Ok wait no that’s why we’re in this shit.

Wish I could get away with that at work. Just claim I wasn’t aware or tell people to go ask someone else.

  20. The Tory partys’ only policy position is having power and holding power – specifically, denying it to the opposition.

That’s it. That’s all of it.

They have no beliefs, no aims or goals. It’s just that.

Individual tories have others like self enrichment, cruelty and corruption, but as a collective that has become the entirety of their belief system.

    What a sad fucking mess.
