He just has to hope Boris doesn’t get to 100. If he does, Boris will win it.
He’s not going to be good for the country, but he’s the best of a bad lot.
If the Tories give a single shit about democracy and the UK, they’ll call a GE.
Least worst option. Kinda like picking your favourite covid variant
Can(‘nt) understand why Rishi wasn’t elected the first time round, considering everything that he said about Liz and Kwasi’s budget came to fruition. He’s an intelligent guy for not saying anything and letting the Tory empire crumble from the inside
I don’t get why they are reporting Rushi and Boris’ votes or why people are even voting for them now, since neither have officially said they will stand?
Is there a possibility you become PM without wanting to?!
Probably the least terrible option. Feels like he’ll be slightly less damaging than Mordaunt, who in turn would be a million times less damaging than Shameless Boris.
(Boris, who would in turn be less damaging than, erm… Putin? Resurrected Saddam? Jacob Rees Mogg? An actual swastika touting neo Nazi? Sticking a tactical nuke up your own arse and diving into a volcano???)
How does he have ‘public backing’?
I don’t want any of these corrupt fuckers in and I certainly didn’t vote for any of these recent ‘PMs’ either.
GE or riot.
Don’t care, we need a general election, enough of this circus
I don’t see him standing. I reckon he does a deal with Johnson and The Membership like Blair/Brown. Johnson does 18 months and Sunak takes them into the next election with his backing. Whether he sticks to his side of the bargain is unlikely. But that’s what I see happening. Not sure I can take Johnson as PM again.

Me thinks, one of the richest people in the country during a cost of living crisis, who’s economic policies contributed to said situation leading his party into the next election might not be the benefit people think.
You’re basically substituting incompetence for negligence.
Well it’s not public backing is it , its tory backing …
He lost to Truss, so he’s perfect to wrest the crown of shortest serving prime minister from her, because that seems to be what’s important in Britain at the moment.
Honestly I dont know how to feel. I actually like Rishi (for a Tory) and think he would do the best of the bunch. He’s clearly the most economically sensible and predicted exactly what would happen if Truss implemented her cuts. On the other hand, I like watching the Tories tear themselves to shreds and hope they elect somebody else who will continue to make them unelectable for the next GE.
At the moment though, only Penny Mordant has formerly applied so all this speculation around Sunak and Johnson is meaningless, until the deadline Monday surely…
If Rishi becomes PM the racists that voted for Brexit for racist reasons are going to be utterly confused.
And they’ll likely vote for the white man at the next GE.
The Tories are fucked, they’ll either get Boris in and try and ride the popularist train to win the next GE and likely get shafted.
Or Rishi will fall victim to the xenophobia his own party helped push for Brexit.
He’s the only hope for the country, and for the Conservative Party
“Public backing” there’s an ironic statement if there ever was one.
There must be a lesson in here about never giving up hope cause your time will come… maybe.
Man of the people, if the people were all richer than the King.
He’s as good as a rancid slither of rotting dead skin. Nonetheless I’d rather him than Boris just to piss off the racists.
All jokes aside a GE is obviously the better choice at the moment.
Tories really seem to want another common man versus the Poshos revolution. Come on down, Cromwell.
British politics is such a parody of itself these days I figure let’s pop BoJo back in and make JRM chancellor. Go big.
Bringing in the Backstabber. I just want a GE so we can get those fuckers out of there. They’ve dug themselves a ditch like the Liberals did 100 years ago. The Liberals died because of that, why can’t the Conservatives?
Leader doesn’t really matter, they’re not going to suddenly start caring about non millionaires or using taxes to properly fund public services, or ensure NHS is staffed well.
Better him than Boris. Still need a GE tho. Rumour is the two are meeting tonight about potentially working together.
It’s battle of the self serving rich mofo, how much can we shaft the public Tories.
