Does anyone know what is this flag near Galeria Młociny? First time seeing it in Warsaw and I wonder what it is. It’s not UPA cus it’s orange-black

  1. Don’t these side-flags usually indicate gas stations or car-selling places?

  2. The middle flag has something written on it – that would make it easier to Google research as it might be a car dealer, gas station, an organisation etc.

  3. These are colors of Huta Warszawa (now ArcelorMittal) Warsaw ironworks.

  4. The orange and black flag/orange and black in general are the colors of Hutnicze (steelworkers). It’s not specific to ArcelorMittal, but is used for all steelworkers and steel mills in general. Similarly, the colors for miners/the mining flag are black and green, and you can sometimes see a black and green flag flying from the top of mining head frames.

Both steelmilling and mining have a lot of traditions associated with their industries, and even have their own ‘holiday’ of sorts. Typically these flags are most commonly displayed on the days leading up to this holiday. Steelworkers have St. Florian’s Day on May 4, and miners have Barbórka/St. Barbara’s day on December 4. It’s a bit odd for the Hutnik flag to be displayed now, perhaps it’s to commemorate the anniversary of this particular plant, or maybe something significant happened at that plant on this particular day.

  5. I think r/vexillology is better at helping identify flags.

  6. Looks so much better then the Yellow and Red Warsaw colors can we switch out colors? This would look more badass on the Trams

  7. Holy fuck, you have some brain dmg if you even thought this could be UPA, in Poland.

  8. Up here in Canada it’s customary to display flags of the countries where company has operations, plus their own (usually a logo). My old man used to work at Huta Warszawa, those colours ring a bell.

  9. even if it was red/black it doesn’t really mean upa

that flag is older and in ukraine not really seen that way

poland just got a negative impression of it because that’s the only situation they see it in
