Those Aberdeenshire tories will still find a way to blame the SNP
The what? Never heard of it, you have the South, the Midlands, then Edinburgh.
How can you be without power for that long. Mobile generators are a thing and the military will have a bunch of them sitting around. Drive them out to each house/village and splice them into the local grid or to each property if necessary. It’s only temporary until they can fix the infrastructure properly.
Perhaps our military is too incompetent to get that done though, I don’t know if I would trust them.
Should have voted Tory. If you don’t donate to the party and support their elections you can’t expect them to help you.
It’s literally just like Game of Thrones isn’t it? The North to Westminster is just a barren cold kingdom that they expect revenue & profits from but whenever they need anything they turn a blind eye.
It’s great that we privatised our electricity generation and distribution so that companies like SSE and Scottish Power can get away with record profits while doing the absolute bare minimum to maintain essential services. Why are we still relying on above-ground transmission?
Yet another call for an inquiry which will either never happen or simply have the results of “the matter is closed”, “we investigated ourselves and did no wrong”, We have changed to rules to suit ourselves” or “in hindsight”
>Local residents say they felt abandoned after the failure to restore power to more than 9,000 homes, mainly across Scotland and the north-east of England. MPs said it was a “national scandal” that the elderly and vulnerable had been put at risk in bitterly cold conditions.
All but 30 homes in Scotland [were reconnected as of yesterday](https://www.scotsman.com/news/weather/storm-arwen-ssen-to-reconnect-last-30-scottish-homes-as-quickly-as-possible-after-nine-days-without-power-3482437).
Didn’t ‘The North’ lend their votes to Boris to give him this thumping majority. Cant wait to see his demise next election, but I won’t hold my breath.
Not just Scotland. Here in Cumbria there are many hundreds (including my son’s in-laws) who are still without electricity. The list of power cuts shown on ENWL’s website throughout was a joke – completely made up. Anyway they’ve been told to expect their power to be restored by 8th December. Crazy.
My own in-laws ended up booking into a hotel (at their own expense) just to get a hot meal and some respite. Trying to get through to ENWL on the 105 number was impossible.
I do pay my respects to the engineers on the ground however – this has been a mammoth task, and the teams out trying to fix this have worked relentlessly in terrible conditions.
The government, on the other hand, have been completely invisible. Our local MP (Tim Farron) has worked tirelessly and raised concerns day after day in the Commons, as well as trying his best to get better comms out of ENWL, whilst also arranging support centres, generators and other types of help especially for the older and more vulnerable residents around here.
This inquiry will conclude that Labour is at fault for these issues and the levelling up with resolve this issue but due to COVID this may be delayed
Expect Johnson to do an emergency photo op in a pub in Cumbria (he will avoid Scotland whenever possible), where he will promise to Build Back Better and save their Christmases. Something will finally happen, however Johnson will then abandon the north again until the next disaster he fails to turn up for.
I don’t know why the government doesn’t invest in the north. Looking at a map most of our major cities are actually up there. We could have multiple global cities if they invested there.
Two major flaws with this call for an inquiry.
1. Boris doesn’t know what the north is and cares more about peppa pig.
2. The tories believe England to be the south east, london and random cities.

Nothing will happen beside Boris rambling on. We may as well start calling ourselves the seven Kingdoms.
