  1. When we thought that despite all problems our species and world might have had, we were nonetheless drive to a bright and prosperous future…

    When climate destruction wasn’t in full gear yet…

    When there was no social-media driven addiction and alienation…

    When you could buy a home and run a family with only one income….

    When it looked like things would only get better…

    Look at us now: the fall of the URSS benefited only a minority of states, with the rest continuing authoritarianism and poverty. Nuclear war threat is coming back, and with climate change added in the mix to boot. Private platforms like Meta are gathering our data for economic purposes, privacy is disappearing. Economy is shit and only benefits the 1%. And it only gets worse.

    Thanks, older generations, for living in a paradise whose only big issue was a fake war and destroying it in the name of neoliberalism. I’m so, so happy with the beautiful world you’ve created (/s)
