I couldn’t really find a thread like this, and if this is a wrong place, I apologize. I’ve seen some threads especially immigrants asking how to make friends in Finland and well… As a Finn, I know we don’t really befriend with others easily, especially after done with school.
So, I was just wondering what about making a thread where you could try find potential like-minded friends in Finland?I don’t know about yall but while having some online friends, I’d like to start having some friends that I could also see face to face more often than once a year so… I haven’t exactly thought how this would work, but if anyone who would like to have more friends just puts a message down with whatever information they wants to share about themselves. Example below 🡗

**Interests / hobbies:** Pretty much anything related to technology, especially cybersecurity and programming, UI/UX, photography, urban exploration, cooking & baking, binge watching shows & movies, drawing, music (listening and producing), animation, 3D modeling, psychology, history
**About you**: A raccoon on cocaine at evenings/nights and sloth on a melatonin in the mornings would probably describe me quite well. Always poking new things and curious about honestly everything. Quite introverted, finding even harder to make IRL friends since I don’t drink that seems to bother others even though I don’t mind others drinking so, there’s that lol.Last year business information technology student, working full time meanwhile and on my spare time… Well, how I spend it changes a lot depending what my interests/hyperfixations happens to be at the time. Currently looking and trying new recipes, trying to build exercise routine and building habits in general while finding ways to become and stay organized. Currently also binge watching a lot of movies and shows to procrastinate with thesis and leftover courses.

Jesus you guys are young. I guess I’m in the minority here: I hate technology…i mostly enjoy working outside. We have a hectare by the river and there’s never a lack of things to do. I’ve planted over 40 trees since 2019. I only cut down the ones that are leaning or in the way of others. Love chopping wood and listening to podcasts. We have a fireplace in the kitchen that makes things quite cozy. When I’m inside I mostly hang out with two fascinating cats and a sweet Finnish wife. Never a dull moment but a satisfyingly simple life.

I’ve been in Finland for a while as a foreigner.
I’m currently a student in mid twenties and I know it’s not the same being a student as being just a worker in Finland. But I found this nice NGO called ESN which is located in almost every bigger city in Finland, operating under some local uni. We do activities, events and trips for foreigners in Finland (students but also non students). It helped me to reach to a huge network of foreigners in Finland but also to some locals which I think is great.
You can just search for ESN “the city you are from”. I’m located in Jyväskylä if you need any help 🙂

Not going to yell out too much publicly, but I’m in my early 20s and enjoy playing video games, watching videos and shows, listening to music and trying out new music and just chatting.

What about us older folks? I’m late 50s and quite frankly struggling with 0 local friends with whom I can socialize (Uusimaa). I’m a daily Fortnite Save the World player, and avid reader, which helps to fill a few hours. Once summer is over and our Finnish garden is closed up for the season, I have LOTS of time on my hands. ugh

As an non inteoverted Finn, I do feel bad for Finns and immigrants alike who must suffer from the inside turned culture of most of Finland.
Kurzesagt youtube channel recently made a video about being alone/lonely and they launched some discord channel meant for looking for friends locally around the globe.
I love this idea!! I’ve been wondering for a while how I could find new friends. I lost most of my “friends” when I stopped getting hammered every friday.
I’m extremely socially awkward around strangers and have trouble keeping in touch with my old friends because of ✨depression and anxiety✨. I adore all animals (cats ftw) but don’t have any of my own at the moment. I love all kinds of arts & crafts, music (I play classical piano), reading. Love going to museums, galleries and concerts.

Hey I’m an American ex-pat moved here about a year ago.
My interest are binge watching shows and movies, playing video games( hell let loose, league of legends, rocket league, and alot more also have ps4). I like playing DND either as a player or GM. I also like to play soccer and basketball even though I haven’t in a few years. I do enjoy IT I want to study game design or digital art. I don’t mind going for coffee or for a drink and don’t mind if your not into either.
