What are these Swedish items, and how common are they?

  1. The matches are very historical even though the box itself probably is rare to find. Jönköping is the industrial cradle of the safety match. Make sure to visit the museum at Tändsticksområdet if you ever go there.

  2. The only thing that is actually authentically common is the dala horse. They should be hand carved and preferrably from Nusnäs, a village outside of Mora, Dalarna.

I don’t know how it looks outside of Dalarna but here you’ll find dala horses absolutely everywhere. I have like 5, at least.

  3. The playing cards shown are just random novelty cards

Dalahästen is common, a lot of us have them, but far from everyone (personally no, but mom have and collect the blue vintage ones)

Cross stich embroidery is very common two generations back, but these days it’s more common on Reddit

Even though I’ve been to that old match industry block in Jönköping, I’ve never seen those authentic matches myself. Solstickan is THE most common safety match

  4. You are more likely to see a “Solstickan” matchbox.

Also many households will own a set of Angel Chimes featuring a box with a girl in blond pigtails staring at spinning brass angels.
