My family is from a town called Comptche in Northern California on the coast near Mendocino. Proud Finnish roots and a tight knit community. And up until a generation ago were still logging, which was the whole original finn industry of the area.
Guess which county of New York my Finnish grandparents live in.
Finnesota hehe
By the way, I always thought that the Wisconsin Michigan border was in a different place. This was the first time something made me pay close attention to it. Learned something new!

Finns crossed an entire ocean to be just as cold as back home.
Southern New Hampshire and central Massachusetts here.
Well atleast if I ever have to move to the USA for some reason i know where to go
My Finnish great grandparents came over and lived in Ironwood, MI in the UP!
From the Duluth, MN area. Can confirm.
Obligatory shout out to Oulu, Wisconsin
Hahaha hauska
Hahaha
I live in Wisconsin and spent some time in northern Finland (Sodankylä) a few years back. It felt like I never left Wisconsin. Only difference was the lack of mature trees and the daylight never left. Oh the reindeer and language as well haha
I was just reading the history of the township I grew up (3rd gen Finn-American) in Northern MN and the homesteading reminded me a lot of classic finnish literature in *Juha* or Vaino’s *Under the Northern Star*.
Glad my family could contribute to those Maine numbers!
Lol my grandparents settled in ND and I was raised in Seattle this is pretty accurate.
If here is any the Goonies (1985) fans, the beautiful town of Astoria in Oregon where the movie was shot had lots of Finnish immigrants in the late 1800s.
