This makes the news in North America every so often when a hockey player picks up a €40,000 speeding ticket lol
I like it. Otherwise richest people wouldn’t care about the laws. Some people just end up thinking they are better than others and can do anything at all.
These posts never mention 1-20 km/h over limit is fixed fine and +20 km/h are day fines.
This is a good system, but it’s a shame it only applies to fines. The same system could be used for jail time too, so when you have a job and an income, you would need to serve lesser time because there is more of a penalty for missing out freedom and normal life.
Had 6 days fine once, can tell you it ain’t fun…
Beat the system by being on kela
I got once 21 day-fine for speeding, wasn’t fun. But it was my own fault so just had to pay it.
Also, different than in USA, you go to the police van, not sit and wait for officer. Got stopped by cop standing in middle of road, in the snow, and I pulled over. Sat there, waiting, when on a loud speaker, was asked to “come over and sit in the police van”. Fine was “student based”, so wasn’t crazy like the Nokia executive or movie producer that initially was over $300,000
And when you make enough money you don’t pay fines at all. You just hide your income to tax heavens.
