Gardaí to face court over alleged assault of 16-year-old

  1. If the Guard is convicted he loses his job, pension, and it will lead to serious financial problems. Not to mention the mental strain of having these possibilities hanging over your head for years.

If the 16 year old is prosecuted for assault he will most likely have to sit through a 10 minute meeting with a Juvenile Liaison Officer and then get back to being a little bollox.

Something is very wrong with our system.

  2. People on this sub are such losers and have extremely warped views of reality. Just assuming this lad is an outright scumbag and praising the big man sergeant for assaulting him. People here seriously need to get outside more often and stop being miserable freaks

  3. I hate scumbags as much as anyone but 1) we don’t even know what the 16 yo did. 2) you can’t just assault kids as a gardai and get away with it.
Come on, guys. It’s ridiculous to defend them

  4. Man of authority assaults a 16 year old. Regardless of what the 16 year old did he shouldn’t have been assaulted by the garda. Garda clearly had no control. Deserves what he gets. If a garda who assaults people is on the street i don’t want that garda out there

  5. Where’s the law against a scumbag 16 yo, we are way too lenient on these child prodigies! Guard hitting this little shite was wrong for sure but it goes both ways fellas.

  6. One could imagine a situation where one would find someone loosing their job over a toe rag being a toe rag fairly unfair, hypothetically.

  7. We’re too soft and the Gaurds are hamstrung by shite like this, and we wonder why crime is out of control in Dublin and kids are getting away with literal murder.

  8. Jesus Christ! 110 Gardai suspended out of 14,000 serving members is a bit of a sickening ratio. At that rate, I would say its pervasive throughout nearly every station in the country.

  9. This place is gas altogether. All the posts about juvenile scumbags and troublemakers and what should be done to and about them. Especially when things like the playground in Cork Street got burned down. Then when someone has a heavy hand with one a load come out and defend them and complain about the Gardai.

  10. Anyone with legal knowledge know or can speculate as to what charges they’re pressing on the coppers?

Is it like like of those store security illegal arrest kind of situations whereby touching someone and requesting them to wait for the police is considered assault and false imprisonment.

Did the covid emergency legislation not allow them to arrest and use handcuffs for refusing to wear a mask and that’s what happened? It just doesn’t make much sense otherwise.

  11. Muppets in this sub
Gets assaulted by 16 year olds : “The Guards don’t do anything the system is so broken we need more guards”.

Guards do something: “Fuck the guards assaulting 16 year olds! They should be prosecuted”.
